In the high-octane world of the PBA, we often focus on the final buzzer, the triple-doubles, and the championship rings. But at The Mommy Weekly, we also focus on the other MVPs that are often found just a few rows back from the hardwood—managing schedules, nurturing the family, and building empires of their own.
In celebration of Women's Month, I’m stepping away from the editor’s desk to talk about a woman I am proud to call a friend and a fellow PBA wife: Jinky Thompson.
While most of the country knows her as the supportive pillar behind Ginebra’s superstar Scottie Thompson, those of us within her circle know her as a force of nature in her own right. Jinky isn’t just "the wife of an all-star"; she is a shining example of how to balance being a devoted mom and a hardworking business owner.
Being a mother of three is a full-time job. Being a PBA wife—with the travel, the pressure, and the public eye—is another. Yet, Jinky manages to weave these roles together with a grace that looks effortless, even when we know there are days when it isn't.
Whether she’s cheering Scottie on from the stands or ensuring their home is a sanctuary for their children, her priority is always family. She proves that you don't have to choose between being a present mother and a passionate partner; you just have to lead with love.
What truly impresses me about Jinky is her keen business mind. In the middle of taking care of Scottie and the three boys, she has built Eleve Galleria, a thriving luxury bag business. Eleve Galleria is the physical manifestation of her work ethic. It’s a reminder to all our readers that your "mom era" can also be your "visionary era."
If you ask anyone who knows Jinky personally, they won’t start by talking about her bags or her husband’s jump shot. They’ll talk about her warmth.
Jinky possesses that rare, "giving hand." She is a woman who is constantly looking for ways to create opportunities for others. She operates from a place of abundance. She is a wonderful person inside and out—someone who understands that true success isn't about what you collect, but what you contribute.
Jinky Thompson shows us that you don't have to sacrifice your personal dreams to be a great mother and a supportive wife. She is proof that with enough heart and a lot of hard work, you can build a legacy that is entirely your own. She is an inspiration to every woman who believes she can be both a nurturer and a trailblazer.
To my dear friend Jinky: Thank you for leading by example, for building your dreams with such kindness, and for showing us that the most beautiful thing a woman can wear is her own success.
