Breastfeeding… ahh.. one of the most challenging and rewarding parts of motherhood. Some moms choose to do it and some don’t. But for most Pinay mamas, breastfeeding is not only beneficial for their little ones but also for their pockets. Because of the high prices of formula milk these days… some choose breastfeeding to be healthier & more practical.
One mama whose breastfeeding story stood out is Camille. The Mommy Weekly Magazine sat down with her to chat about what life is like - breastfeeding her two sons.
“I believe what motivated me to choose to breastfeed for both my sons would be the knowledge about how great is breastmilk for babies.”
Camille, with her slim physique, also shared how much she wanted to prove people wrong that no matter what body size you have, you can breastfeed your little ones and keep them fed.
But because she has two sons.. It sparked our curiosity about the difference between the two when breastfeeding -
“The one difference between the two would be, my son Sky Avery's aggressiveness (when he asks for milk), while my other son Gavin Nathan before was just really calm.”
She also shared how convenient breastfeeding is, being able to feed her sons anytime, anywhere is such a blessing. But the journey is not all rainbows and butterflies for her too, Camille shared how people have been telling her to stop breastfeeding both her boys because of how exhausting and draining it can be..
So for a strong mama like Camille, avoiding stress and relaxing your mind is key to producing milk.
Her best tip for first-time moms is to eat well. Feeding and pumping after 2-3 hours will increase your milk supply along with making sure you are always hydrated. Camille appreciate breastfeeding the most because of how it influenced her relationship with her sons.
“Because of skin-to-skin bonding & close contact, thus, I've built a good & close relationship with both of them.”
As someone who breastfeeds two little boys and works at home at the same time, she empowers every Filipina mom to not feel guilty and focus on your and your little one’s well-being.
“Just let go and let it flow.”
Breastfeeding offers a unique bond between a mother and her child. It's nature's perfect food, to tend to your baby's needs. The warmth of your skin against your baby's tiny body, the hushed, peaceful moments – breastfeeding is more than just nourishment. It's an act of love, a connection so profound it transcends words. It's a gift from nature, a treasure to cherish.
